In the sweltering summer, a festival as refreshing as the sea came to life. It was the Gwangam Beach Concert, held at Gwangam Beach, the only beach in Changwon.

CTR supported this event by contributing both to environmental activities that protect the sea and to programs that bring local residents together, helping to revitalize the community.

Although Gwangam Beach is not as large as beaches in other regions, it remains a popular destination every summer, attracting both citizens and tourists. This summer alone, it drew as many as 69,000 visitors, reflecting the immense interest it received. What made this year even more special was the very first Gwangam Beach Concert, which combined culture, art, and environmental themes into one unique festival.

The festival also featured a variety of side programs designed for children and families, making it an event that everyone—young and old alike—could enjoy!

One of the most distinctive aspects of this year’s event was thefocus on the environment. For example, there was a sea glass keyring workshop using worn glass fragments found along the shore, as well as a beachcombing activity, where participants collected marine debris.

The word beachcombing is a blend of “beach” and “combing,” referring to the act of picking up litter along the shoreline to protect the environment. This activity went a step further by allowing participants to exchange the marine litter they collected for snacks, adding a playful element to the experience!

Children and adults alike joined in, naturally realizing the importance of protecting the environment. The message—“It is we who must safeguard clean seas”—was clearly conveyed throughout the event. This aligns perfectly with CTR’s ongoing efforts towardbuilding a sustainable future.

Starting at 6:30 p.m., the stage came alive with performances by local artists and citizens, creating a time of shared enjoyment. Bubble shows, acoustic guitar, classical songs, popera(operatic pop), Korean pop, and even sand art performances filled the evening, offering the audience a sense of relaxation. Thanks to the concert, the charm of Gwangam Beach was shared with an even wider audience.

CTR’s journey will continue, hand in hand with the community, to foster an even more vibrant local society!
